چکیده
Identifying the provenance of aeolian deposits in semi-arid zones China is beneficial understanding Earth’s surface processes and helping to alleviate ecological stress. In this paper, we use grain-size, geochemical elements, heavy-minerals, quartz grain morphology data investigate potential source sands from Ordos Deserts (Mu Us Sandy Land Hobq Desert). Sedimentological, geomorphological results indicate that significant differences exist among various parts Mu Land, i.e., sediments southwest region are obviously distinct other areas but show same external with Desert referring sorting, mineralogical maturity, characteristics, morphology. Comparing samples felsic rocks sources via a serious methods, conclude that: 1) Aeolian regions mixture binary provenance, one originated local lacustrine underlying sandstones, another Alxa Plateau (AP) carried by northwesterly Asian winter monsoon. 2) The fluvial denuded Qilian Orogenic Belt Northeastern Tibetan (NTP) Yellow River likely initial material for Desert. 3) plays critical role sediment transport sand seas arid northern China.

The mineralogy and geochemistry of Paleocene shales and interbedded siltstones in the southwestern of Ahar town (NW Iran) were studied by optical microscopy, XRD, SEM, XRF, and ICP-MS techniques. The mineralogical composition, mainly characterized by calcite, quartz, feldspar, dolomite, muscovite, magnesiohornblende, chlorite, illite, montmorionite, palygorskite, and koninckite, suggests relati...

The Khuzestan plain is located in south western of Iran and is covered about 3.9 percent of the country area. Khuzestan plain is mostly covered by the Quaternary deposits. The thickness of these deposits exceeds 300m in some areas .Sedimentology and geochemistry of sand dunes producing centers are not only important for determining sedimentary and geochemical features of the particles possible ...

Some 43 samples collected from surficial sediments of Semnan Province (Alborz zone) and NE Isfahan Province (Central Iran zone) were analyzed, for constrains on provenance. Sand fraction were analyzed by XRF analyzer Philips Model PW 2450 in the laboratory of the Geology Survey Iran (GSI). Precision was 0.01%. Furthermore, 8 selected sediment samples and 8 samples from rock units from surroundi...

Geochemistry analysis of river sediments, carbonate cemented and paleosols horizons and the implications for provenance and chemical weathering (Case Study: Saqqez River)
Introduction In theory, the bulk composition of the sediment may provide a way of determining the provenance of this material if there is sufficient diversity in the bedrock compositions. However, sediment compositions may be changed from the original bedrock as a result of transport and chemical weathering. The geochemistry of bedload and suspended sediments has been used by many workers to d...
